DISCLAIMER
The 2009 season of the GSU Absolute Fantasy
Football League (GAFFL) is being played strictly for the fun and
enjoyment of its participants.
It is in no way to be construed as gambling of any
sort.
Game
Overview
Fantasy Football has been around for almost 30 years now, in some
form or another. It began back in the Vince Lombardi days by a bunch of
beer drinking, cigar smoking, sit around in your underwear on Sunday and
watch football, kind of guys. You know.... your dad.
In a nutshell, you will be the owner, manager, coach, trainer,
waterboy and cheerleader of your own fantasy football team. You will
draft your team from the rosters of the NFL and then, each week, match
your best starting line-up against another fantasy team in a
head-to-head contest.
Points will be awarded based upon how the actual NFL players do in
certain statistical categories. The GAFFL Fantasy Team with the most
fantasy points accumulated during that week's games, will win that
week's fantasy game.
We will play a 14-week regular season. Then 2 weeks of playoffs to
determine the two teams who will meet in the GAFFL Bowl. Each week
during the regular season, you will have the chance to better your team
through trades with the other owners and the signing of free agents.
League
Structure
- League will consist of 12-14 teams with
2
divisions.
Rosters
- A team roster will consist of 23 players and 1 coach.
- The only restriction regarding positions and roster make-up is
that you must have at least one player for every position available.
CUT, WAIVED, OR RETIRED
PLAYERS
- In the event a player signed to a fantasy team ceases employment on
an NFL team due to being cut, waived or retiring, the fantasy team owner
is simply out of luck. The player will be removed from the team and the
vacant roster spot can be filled at the next available free agent
transaction date.
The
Draft
- The free agent draft will be
conducted before the NFL season begins and is scheduled for
Sunday August30,2009
- Franchise fee of $150 per team is due at the
draft!
-
The draft position selection
will be drawn for on draft day.
- Franchise or "carry over"
players rights may not be protected this year.
- The draft will be "snake
order" fashion and will consist of 24 rounds.
- Each team will have 2 minutes to make
a selection. If a pick is not made in that two minutes, the
selection is forfeited.
- Draft picks may be traded, provided
that they are even trades.
PLAYER POSITION REQUIRMENTS
- For starting lineup purposes, a player can only qualify for a
position that is his primary position. (Just because William Perry
carried the ball once, it didn't make him a fullback). However,
should a player in a fantasy team's starting lineup play a position
in an NFL game other than his qualifying position, the player's
fantasy points will still count.
- The Commissioner's Office will determine, prior to the draft, the
position eligibility for all players. This position eligibility will
not change during the season.
- If an owner submits a starting line-up with a player inserted into
an ineligible position, the player's fantasy points for that week
will be voided and will not count toward the teams fantasy total.
Playing the Game
- The season schedule will be randomly generated via computer.
Due to the number of weeks in our schedule and the number of teams
in our league, you will play every team in the league at least once and each team in your division twice.
- The regular season will consist of 14 weeks of competition.
- The playing week will consist of all NFL games played from Tuesday
Night through the following Monday night.
- Lineups can be entered directly onto league
website right up until 5 minutes before the particular players game starts. All playerswill be frozen at kickoff of their respective
games. Frozen meaning on bench or in starting lineup.
Note...starting lineup from previous week always carries over unless
changed before kickoff!
- Lineups may be emailed in or called in
to any of the commissioners in case of emergency.
- If no line-up is received by the Commissioner for a particular
team, the line-up used for the previous week will be automatically
submitted.
- During a players bye week,
no stats will be carried over
from week to week this year, IF HE DONT PLAY...HE DON'T GET NO POINTS !
! !
It is up to the team owners to field a starting lineup of players that
are active that week!

fill a particular position (i.e. you don't have a Running Back) you may
not substitute another player for that position unless he qualifies at
that position. (See Position Requirements).
- Those players not on the starting line-up are considered Reserve
Players and their fantasy stats will not count towards a team's
total for that week. Only active players stats will count.
Points
and Scoring
- The players on the starting line-up will accumulate fantasy points
based upon what the actual NFL player does each week. You will be pitted
against another fantasy team each week and the fantasy team that
accumulates the most fantasy points will win that week's contest. The
fantasy player will be awarded points based upon the following

- In the event of a fantasy game tie in the fantasy point totals of
two team's active players, the point totals of the two team's
reserve players will be used as the tie-breaker. If the totals
of the reserve players are also equal, then the game will be
declared a tie. Ties will be counted as a loss for post season
consideration.
- In the playoffs, if the totals of active and reserve players are
also equal, then team with the highest regular season YTD fantasy
point total will be declared the winner of the playoff game.
Six fantasy teams will
qualify for the playoffs. The six teams will be:
- 2 - Division
Winners
- 4 - Wildcard Teams
The Wildcard Teams will be
the non-divisional winners and seeded according to:
- Best Win/Loss record
overall.
- Highest Fantasy Point

Player
Transactions
- During the season, a fantasy team will be allowed to change the
structure and personnel of the team through free agent
acquisitions.
- Teams will be allowed 4 free transactions per year.
- After 4 transactions, each thereafter will cost $5.00 each.
These fees will accrue to prize fund.
- If an NFL player is waived or placed on injured reserve,
the pickup will be charged the
same.
-
The Priority Player Transactions for any given week will end on Thursdays
at 200AM (est).
The resulting pickups will
be automatically posted to the website within minutes.
-
Free agents may be used in your starting lineups
immediately once they show up on your roster.
- Transactions
may be made
from 2:05AM Thursday until 1PM Sunday on first
come basis. You will be able to acquire free agents real time
on website during this period.
- No
players involved in early week games will be allowed to be acquired
after their respective games have kicked off under no circumstances
until the following week.
- All
released players will not become available for pickup until after
the completion of that weeks games.
- A fantasy team may only make 3 player transactions per week.
- A player released by a fantasy team, may not be resigned by that
same fantasy team for 14 days.
- If more than one team claims the same player, the team with the
least prestigious record will receive the player. If the teams
have identical records, the team who has scored the less points for
the season will receive the player. If there is still a tie, a
coin toss will decide who receives the player.
TRADES << NO TRADES -
disregard following rules on trades!!
-
During the course of the season, you can better your team through
trades with the other team owners. Negotiate between yourselves and
work out a deal agreed upon by both sides and submit it to the
Commissioner.
- No
trades will be validated unless both sides of the trade submit
confirming transactions. In other words, if only one side of the
trade submits the trade, the trade will not be approved until both
sides submit it.
- You may not trade a player to be named
later.
- There is no restriction on the number
of trades.
-
All trades will be assessed a
$10 fee. $5 per team.
- The maximum
number of players involved in a trade is 5 players per team.
- No 3 team trades are allowed.
- If, in the opinion of the Commissioner, a trade is made that is
heavily one- sided, or deemed to not be in the best interest of the
league (i.e. owner collusion is suspected) the Commissioner may void
the trade.
- In the event of a trade veto, parties involved in the trade may
appeal the Commissioner's decision. In that event, the circumstances
of the trade are put out to the owners not involved in the trade for
a vote on whether to allow the trade or not.
- If the majority of the owners deem the trade was not in the best
interest of GSU, the trade will be voided.
- The Trading Deadline will be the end of the transaction period for
the 10th week of the season.
- All trading will be stopped for the remainder of the season. Free
agent transactions will continue through the end of the regular
season.
- There are no roster moves allowed
after the playoffs start.

fund include stats service fees, room rental and winners
trophy.

- The travesty rule will be invoked
when evidence points to actions that indicate an owner is not trying
to win or is attempting to disrupt or make a mockery of the
game. A coach dismantling his team after being eliminated from
the playoffs will absolutely not be tolerated!
- Invocation of this rule will take
place with a verbal warning. If the behavior continues, the
commissioners will review the situation with other, non-partial
owners to determine the appropriate action.
- Owners of franchises in GAFFL have the right to hiring any
discrepancies, deficiencies, contradictions, or voids to the
commissioners. They may express opinions, ideas and theories
to the commissioners. A hearing will take place if matters
cannot be resolved promptly.
- GAFFL will be operated by a two-commissioner panel.
- In the event that a situation may occur where a franchise is
feeling that they are being treated unfairly by the commissioners, a
meeting will take place to discuss the matter.
- Any owner-initiated action that blatantly exploits an unexposed
"loop hole" to the serious disadvantage of the other
league owners will be voided.
- The commissioners may rule on and interpret all such issues, and all
rulings are final.
- Common sense and fair play are to be read into each rule.
- The commissioners may rule on all situations and ambiguities not
specifically covered in this document.
- You are encouraged to be creative with your team names, however,
let's keep it out of the gutter and we do not allow the use of any
names of any professional sports franchises.
- Payment of league entrance fee ($150.00) constitutes acceptance to
these rules and regulations. Payment is due no later than the
beginning of the draft. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- No Refunds!
- One thing I've learned from running these leagues, is that
unfortunately, surprises do happen! I'm going to apologize up front for
any screw-ups that I might make and do my best to keep them at a
minimum.
- We also actively recruit your comments and suggestions. That's the
only way that Gator Sports, Unc can continue to improve.
